Fire Cuts Off 130,000 Telephone Lines

A fire in a BT tunnel in Manchester City Centre cut off more than 130,000 telephone lines in the North and North West of England. Many lines remained out of action for several weeks following the incident. Read the BBC report.

This underlines our concerns about over-reliance on communication across wires for an emergency warning system. Our systems can be configured to use radio control and when supplied with back-up battery buffering, our sirens can run for up to a month without a mains supply.
